InsureMe Offers Tips for Keeping Teen Car Insurance Affordable

Denver (PRWEB) November 28, 2005

Parents work hard to protect their children. But when these precious children find themselves thrust into adulthood behind the wheel of the family car, many parents discover their car insurance rates soaring along with their concerns and find that essential protection hard to find.

More than 5,000 teens ages 16 to 20 die annually in vehicle-related accidents, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. For this reason, many car insurance companies consider drivers under 25 a higher-than-average risk. This increased risk of death and injury leads to soaring teen car insurance rates.

But if teens are willing to expend some effort and follow a few simple guidelines, parents won’t have to take away the car keys just yet.

To keep rates low, InsureMe, the leading consumer-agent link for buying insurance on the Web, recommends these tips for teens:

Keep a Clean Driving Record

Just one DWI (driving while intoxicated) conviction can raise teen car insurance premiums above a base premium of a few hundred dollars annually for at least three years.

Earn “Brownie Points”

Many companies offer discounts to teens attending high school or college full-time who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average. Insurers also offer discounts to teens who take a locally accredited driver safety course or other state-certified program. Ask your insurer about these discounts, or get information online from the National Safety Council at http://www.nsc.org.

Involve Yourself in Your Community

Young people who join certain civic or community organizations (such as Eagle     Scouts or Girl Scouts) may receive discounts from their teen car insurance providers. Car insurers often reward teens willing to better their communities with lower rates, since these types of teens usually pose less risk.

Choose a Safer Car

Car insurance may cost up to 50 percent less if your teen drives a safer car,     such as a Honda Civic or a Volvo. Newer model cars with airbags are the least expensive to insure, and the safest for teens to drive. Sports cars, expensive cars, high-performance cars and SUVs carry higher risk and higher teen car insurance premiums.

Add Safety Features

Protective features such as anti-lock brakes, traction control, automatic seatbelts and side-impact airbags can reduce teen car insurance rates considerably.

Shop Around

Agents have different programs of incentives and discounts, and by shopping around, chances are improved for finding the right discounts for a specific teen driver. The Internet provides fast and easy methods for reaching insurance agents.

A little extra attention can mean lower car insurance rates—and on-the-road protection—for the entire family.

InsureMe Provides Car Care Tips for Summer Weather

DENVER (PRWEB) June 8, 2006

With the unofficial start of summer underway, InsureMe, the leading online insurance shopping service, is offering tips to keep cars in prime condition during the high heat and humidity of summer.

Because summer heat can be particularly hard on vehicles, InsureMe recommends the following:

Flushing and refilling the cooling system. Coolant levels and conditions should be checked throughout the summer to avoid overheating—the greatest cause of summer breakdowns.

Checking the vehicle’s radiator core. Cars that have been through a harsh winter face radiator corrosion from salts and deicers on the road. Using antifreeze, even during the summer, will help to reduce corrosion and keep the vehicle from overheating.

Changing the oil. While technicians advocate an oil change every 3,000 miles, cars that are routinely subjected to high heat, humidity and stop-and-go traffic need to be serviced more often.

Checking tire condition and pressure. Keeping the right amount of tire pressure is central to preserving fuel economy and extending the life of the tires. Drivers should also be on the lookout for visible damage to tires, which can worsen under intense heat.

For the numerous car owners who don’t perform their own vehicle maintenance, many repair and tune-up shops are offering summer car care packages which include many of the above mentioned services, with some major retailers offering the summer services for under $ 100.

In addition to providing summer car care tips, the InsureMe company also authors the InsureMe Insurance blog, which is updated daily with insurance news, tips and ways to save money. View all of the InsureMe blogs at http://www.InsureMeBlog.com.

InsureMe Brings Video to the Insurance Sales Community

Denver, CO (PRWEB) February 21, 2007

Realizing that insurance agents needed a one-stop-shop for sales tips and entertainment, InsureMe, an online service connecting agents to consumers looking to buy, has focused its cinematic magic to the company’s Agent Blog which provides sales, marketing, and industry commentary.

The Agent Blog Wrap-Up video is posted to the blog each Friday; anchor and Lead Copywriter Megan Mahan recaps the week’s sales and insurance news, which is interspersed with informative, yet silly skits. One recent video included a series of sales affirmations, designed to encourage and entertain agents as they navigate the sometimes tumultuous terrain of insurance sales.

“InsureMe loves its agents and the greater agent community,” says James Omdahl, InsureMe marketing strategist, who also directs and edits the videos. “If we can provide them with sales tips to keep them in the game and give them a laugh, that’s a big win in our book.”

Amy Popp, an American Family agent who recently won $ 100 from a contest promoted on the Agent Blog Wrap-Up, said the videos are a fun and unique way to end the week. “And my son just loves them,” she added.

While there’s no statistical evidence to back it up, Jeb “McDreamy” Foster (a copywriter and contributor to the Agent Blog), has a sneaking suspicion that viewers of all ages tune in each week to see if famed statistician Peter Deusterman dons his notorious jean shorts and mullet wig.

“There’s just no denying it,” says Foster shaking his head, “Peter puts Andre Agassi’s early 90s fashion sense to shame.”

InsureMe Provides Tips for Online Insurance Shopping

Denver, Colo. (PRWEB) April 25, 2006

According to a recent Forrester Research study, over 28 percent of households use the Internet during the insurance shopping process. With that number on the rise, InsureMe, a leading online insurance shopping service, is highlighting Web shopping tips for consumers wishing to take care of their insurance needs online.

While premium affordability still remains on the forefront for insurance shoppers, the InsureMe company stresses the importance of considering site security, customer service ratings and financial solidity when shopping online for insurance.

Because insurance plans and requirements vary from state to state, the company recommends researching coverage options by visiting the state Department of Insurance (DOI) online, or browsing InsureMe’s informational state articles. The articles are available at http://www.insureme.com/content/state/.

Once consumers know what kind of coverage they need, they can visit one of the many sites on the Web that allows shoppers to obtain and compare free insurance quotes. But not all sites are created equal, according to InsureMe President, Tim McTavish.

“Consumers should always verify a Web site’s security measures by looking for a ‘seal of approval’ or clickable logo from a security technology company,” states McTavish. “Highly-regarded companies are often approved by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and will display the BBB logo on their homepage.”

Consumers should also investigate insurance companies and agents by checking customer service ratings and financial solidity through rating companies like A.M. Best and Weiss Ratings before buying a policy.

“Many consumers underestimate the value of good customer service and proven financial strength,” says McTavish. “The most affordable insurance in the state won’t do much good if you can’t contact your agent or the company can’t pay your claim.”

As with all forms of online shopping, InsureMe advocates consumer education as the best line of defense. By verifying the security and the legitimacy of the insurance-related sites and companies, consumers can find the right insurance for the right price.

InsureMe Crosses Borders, Changes Lives

Denver (PRWEB) December 7, 2007

InsureMe (http://www.insureme.com), a web-based company that helps people get insurance quotes, recently stepped out of the office and into a third-world country.

The cause: to build homes for impoverished families. The company, which is known throughout Colorado for its philanthropic efforts, has sent three teams made up of employees, their friends and family members, to build three homes in 2007. The company also sponsored a trip for two of its Spanish-speaking employees to translate for a Juarez medical team.

Working through Missions Ministries, InsureMe donated the funds for the house materials as well as most of the tools and paint to build the house. Employee time off was also covered by the company. Over the course of three days the teams constructed a three-room house, complete with insulation and dry wall. Donations of food and clothing were also given to the families.

During the team’s stay in Juarez, employees also participate in a community outreach event, during which time dinner is served to the community, crafts are made for the children and family photos are taken.

Historically, the small company made of 67 employees has been an active participant in both the local and global communities. InsureMe embarked on its first mission trip to Ghana, Africa in 2005, where employees helped to build a new orphanage. Most recently, InsureMe has been recognized with top charitable giving awards from the United Way, Leadership Excellence and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

While InsureMe’s active participation in the community surprises some, InsureMe founder and CEO Tim McTavish has asserted that it’s an important tenet of the company culture.

“Serving others is where true happiness is found,” said McTavish. “At InsureMe, we recognize that we are part of the global community, and that it’s our responsibility to serve that community. Not to mention — there’s no greater teambuilding event like doing manual labor in a third-world country.”

Plans are already underway to build two more houses in Juarez for 2008, as is an initiative to provide clean water to a Peruvian village. In early 2008, a new van will also be delivered to the Ghana orphanage built in 2005 so that the children can travel safely to and from school.

On the home front, InsureMe continues to raise money though the Mile High United Way and volunteer time at the Denver Rescue Mission, as well as other local events.

About InsureMe

InsureMe links agents nationwide with consumers shopping for insurance. In 2006 the company received numerous awards, presented by organizations such as the United Way, the Denver Rescue Mission, Leadership Excellence and Working Mother Magazine. InsureMe encourages volunteerism among its employees and has sponsored service trips to Mexico, Russia and Ghana. For more information, visit http://www.insureme.com.

InsureMe Puts Lowering Insurance Costs on the Forefront

Denver November 4, 2005 (PRWEB) November 4, 2005

InsureMe, the country’s premiere insurance referral service, is offering tips for consumers to take the sting out of paying for insurance.

With the added economic obstacles such as gas and heating costs, it’s important that consumers save money wherever they can—starting with their insurance.

The InsureMe company gives consumers a better way to shop for insurance online, allowing them to compare up to five quotes from insurance professionals on auto, health, life, home and long-term care insurance. The InsureMe Web site also provides consumers with extensive, state-specific information on insurance, aimed to help consumers make informed decisions about their coverage.

“Obtaining multiple quotes allows the consumer to compare both policy and price,” says former insurance agent and InsureMe president, Tim McTavish. “And with the current competition in the insurance marketplace, consumers can take advantage of agents competing for their business.”

In addition to comparing multiple quotes, McTavish recommends that insurance shoppers take advantage of various discounts. Multiple policy discounts are often given to consumers who buy more than one policy from an insurer, such as policies for auto and homeowner’s coverage. Discounts are also available for low-risk behavior and safe practices; reductions are often given to safe drivers, homeowner’s with anti-theft devices, as well as to non-smokers and those free from obesity and associated health problems.

“It’s important for consumers to know that these discounts exist,” adds McTavish. “It can shave hundreds, even thousands of dollars off annual premiums. And, when agents compete for a person’s business, they’re sure to apply any discounts for which the consumer qualifies.”

The articles available on the InsureMe site also encourage consumers to trim insurance rates by avoiding superfluous coverages. Consumers with little debt and no dependents can save money by lowering the amount of life insurance they carry. Drivers and homeowners alike can save money by increasing deductibles to an affordable amount and avoiding extra coverage on cars that are paid off and valuables that are no longer present in the home.

“Finding a happy medium is essential when it comes to insurance coverage,” says McTavish. “Shopping around for the best rate and making educated decisions about the kind of coverage you buy is the best way to get the most for your bottom dollar—and we hope the InsureMe site helps consumers do exactly that.”

InsureMe Lends a Hand

Denver (PRWEB) October 13, 2005

InsureMe, an online insurance referral service, recently supported their employees in stepping out of the office and onto the former Lowry Air Force Base to help several hundred evacuees from Hurricane Katrina get back on their feet.

InsureMe committed the donation of 16 hours per day for employees to help dole out clothing, school supplies, household and personal items to evacuees who have been staying in dormitories at the Lowry community, some for over a month.

Volunteers worked diligently to get items to evacuees; when items ran out, lists were made to keep track of who needed what. The items were purchased soon after an order was made, allowing InsureMe volunteers to distribute them to evacuees the next day.

“It was heartwarming to see how many people wanted to reach out to those who had lost their homes,” said Christine Ames, a business analyst at InsureMe, who volunteered her time last Wednesday.

And, as volunteers handed out goods, they also lent a listening ear. “It was humbling to hear their stories,” one employee noted. “To hear how they lost everything…it was a very humbling experience.”

InsureMe’s Chief Operating Officer, Robin Paquette, is proud of InsureMe employees for offering their time and compassion to the evacuees of Katrina. “It warms my heart,” Paquette said, “to be part of an organization like InsureMe that, through its people, consistently demonstrates its core values in and outside of the workplace.”

InsureMe Provides Resources for Finding Home Insurance Insurance Shopping Service Offers Tips for Hard-To-Find Home Insurance

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 19, 2006

With the first named tropical storm under our belt, many homeowners are looking for home insurance — and some are having a difficult time finding it.

To help consumers protect themselves from this year’s high-risk weather season, InsureMe, the leading online insurance shopping service, is providing tips for finding adequate insurance protection.

While homeowners in coastal regions of the U.S. are facing dramatic premium hikes — and worse yet, a shortage of insurers taking on new business — the company urges homeowners not to give up on insuring their residence.

“Policies, especially affordable ones, can be hard to find for a lot of people right now,” says Mike Sajdak, InsureMe Chief Financial Officer. “But InsureMe.com allows homeowners to shop online and be matched with licensed, local agents in their area who can meet their home insurance needs.”

Still, the company understands that some homeowners in particularly high-risk areas may not be considered insurable by some insurance companies. InsureMe encourages these select homeowners to take advantage of any state and federal programs that are available, such as that in Mississippi, called the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association (MWUA). Programs like the MWUA offer policies to homeowners in especially weather-prone areas, and although these last resort policies typically cost more and offer fewer coverage options, experts agree that some coverage is better than no coverage.

“Homeowners that are insured under a state plan can and should continue to shop for a home insurance policy from a private insurer,” adds Sajdak, “but having some coverage is better than nothing in the wake of a catastrophe.”

InsureMe also stresses the importance of pairing home insurance coverage with flood protection, especially for homeowners in flood-prone areas. In the recent past, there has been a common misconception that standard home insurance covered flood-related damage and loss, a lesson that many learned the hard way after the active 2005 storm season. Experts estimate that over 60 percent of damaged homes in low-lying areas of New Orleans were without flood insurance.

In most cases, flood insurance can be purchased through a licensed home insurance agent; however those in high-risk areas may have to buy a policy through state or federal programs like the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP offers a variety of flood insurance policies, including those for homeowners with lower-than-average incomes.

In addition to these tips, InsureMe provides a variety of free insurance resources for consumers. The InsureMe Insurance Resource Center contains numerous articles on multiple insurance types; the InsureMe Insurance Blog is also updated daily with insurance tips and industry news. The InsureMe Insurance Blog is part of the greater InsureMe blog network.
